Customize the “Thank You” Page Text of your Survey

When a participant completes your survey, they are normally shown a “Thank you” page. This page acts as a confirmation that they have indeed reached the end of your survey. Up until now, the text that was displayed on this page was fixed.

This has been made more flexible as you can now customize the text that is displayed to the participant on survey completion.

This is a great way to add a personal touch to your survey or if your survey is serving a specific purpose, like a contact form, to confirm the next actions that will follow based on their survey submission.

For more information on how to customize the “Thank You” page text, see here: How do I customize the “Thank You” page text of my survey?

Organize your Online Surveys with Labels

We have just launched the ability for you to organize your surveys into categories using labels. Like “folders”, this lets you group your surveys into different categories, allowing you to tidy up your workspace, in case that you have many different surveys.

Unlike working with folders, you can assign multiple labels to one single survey. For example, you may want to label your “template” surveys with the “Template” label but also with the “Work” label. This makes it even easier to find the survey you are looking for. You can create as many labels as you need.

We think this is a really flexible way for you to organize your surveys and hope you find it as useful as we do!

For more information on survey labels, see here: How to organize your online surveys with labels

Toggle your Question Description

Adding a description to your question is a great way to provide further information to your participants about what the question is about. However, sometimes description texts can be quite long and end up cluttering your questionnaire.

We have just launched a new feature that will allow you to initially hide question descriptions.

When this setting is active on your question, the description will be initially hidden, and the participant will be able to toggle it on and off using the tooltip icon that has been added.

For information on how to activate this setting see here:
How to hide the question description

Access your Online Survey Data with our Developer API

We are happy to announce that our Developer API is now available!

You can utilize the REST API to fetch live data from your surveys including not only details about the survey itself, but also all the responses and answers as well.

To get you started as quickly as possible, we have fully documented everything for you. The documentation will guide you through authentication and present all the different endpoints that can be consumed.

You can view the documentation here: SurveyHero API Documentation

We will be continuously adding new and exciting capabilities to the API. Your feedback is very welcome and if you need to be able to do something programmatically that is not possible yet, please let us know!

UPDATE: You can now also set up “Webhooks“.

UPDATE: Get tabulated results from your survey using the Report API.

Survey Redirection with Skip Logic

It is common practice to ask some screening questions at the beginning of your survey to “screen out” participants who do not qualify for your target audience. Until now, you could only screen them out by sending them to the “Thank You” page of your survey. This is the same page that participants see, who completed the survey.

We have now made an update to our Skip Logic feature that will allow you to redirect participants to external URLs based on whatever answer they choose, making participant screening extremely easy to implement.

This is also useful to you if you are using a panel provider to reach your participants. They will more than likely provide you with links such as “screen-out”, “quota full”, “complete”, etc., all of which is now easy to set up thanks to this update.

Filter Results by Custom Date Range

Up until now, you could only filter by set date ranges, such as 7 days, 14 days, etc. We have just launched a new update which makes it now possible for you to specify any date range you need by using date pickers.

This is great if you only want to show the responses from the past few days for example.

Filter Survey Responses and Reports

Add Hyperlinks into your Online Survey

You can now add hyperlinks directly into the text of your online survey. This is especially great for when you need to link to an external resource for your participants to be able to effectively answer your questions.

We recommend to only add links to your questionnaire when necessary, because clicking on them will make your participants (temporarily) leave your survey. This may result in a higher drop-off rate.

Make your Online Survey Completely Anonymous

To collect true and honest feedback, it is often necessary to conduct surveys that are anonymous. Right now, you can do so by not applying any settings that might allow you to identify a response. You can then mention this e.g. in your survey invitation and within your questionnaire.

However, how would your participants know your survey is indeed anonymous? There is no way for them to verify that. Doubts regarding anonymity often lead to dishonest responses and skewed data.

Today we are happy to announce that we have made some updates to the tool and you can now offer a guarantee of complete anonymity to your participants. This is an option that can easily be enabled for each individual survey.

When this is active, we will show a label to your participants that officially confirms the anonymity of the survey. They can click on it for more information onto how we guarantee anonymity.

An ideal use case for this is e.g. when you would like to run an employee feedback survey. Informing the participants that their responses will remain anonymous will allow them to put their privacy concerns at ease and answer questions truthfully.

When you activate the option “Anonymous Survey”, we will automatically hide the email address, IP address, link parameters, meta data and any other piece of information that might allow the identification of a participant.

You can activate the “Anonymous Survey” option in your survey settings. To add one more level of protection, this setting cannot be deactivated once it has been turned on.

You can learn more about how we make surveys fully anonymous here: Conduct Anonymous Survey

Edit Responses from your Online Survey

We thought that a great way to start the year would be to roll out a new feature for you all!

You can now edit your online survey responses directly from within the tool. Simply visit “Responses”, open the response you need to alter and hit “Edit”.

You will be shown the entire questionnaire at once (no page breaks) with all original answers from your participant. You can then simply edit the answers as needed and hit “Save”.

There are many legitimate cases where it is useful to be able to alter survey responses, such as an obviously wrong answer that might skew your data or when you want to update some information that was submitted to you by other means, etc. With this new feature, you can now make super quick changes to responses and fix those mistakes.

This feature is available starting from the Business Plan.

Happy New Year and all the best for 2018 from everyone at SurveyHero!

Get Participant’s Answers by Email

We recently introduced the ability for you to receive email notifications immediately after someone participates in your online survey.

Today we are happy to announce that we have made these notifications even better. You can now see the answers from the response directly in the notification email we send you.

Having all responses right in the email means you do not need to log into SurveyHero to see what the participants have answered. If you do not want the answers to be included in the notification emails, you can simply disable this option within the settings of your collector.

You can learn more about response notifications here:
